Glenda Henderson Appointed New President of AFOA Ontario

ACROSS OUR TRADITIONAL TERRITORIES, ONTARIO – AFOA Ontario has issued the following statement to announce the appointment of Glenda Henderson as President:

 

We are pleased to announce that Glenda Henderson of Mitaanjigamiing First Nation, Treaty #3, has been appointed as the new President of the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Ontario (AFOA Ontario), effective November 18th, 2024.

 

Glenda Henderson is a proud member of Mitaanjigamiing First Nation residing in Fort Frances. Since October 2022, she has served as a Board Director for AFOA Ontario. As Program & Services Manager at Shooniyaa Wa-Biitong, she leads employment programs focusing on skills development, job training, and support for youth, urban communities, and Indigenous people with disabilities. With over 26 years of experience in various roles, Glenda holds designations as a Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA) and Certified Indigenous Leader (CIL), is pursuing the Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) certification, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Program for Leadership Development. She also holds a BA in Indigenous Learning from Lakehead University and a General Arts and Science Diploma from Confederation College.

 

Glenda Henderson will lead the Board of Directors and staff of AFOA Ontario as we work to grow and expand the Ontario Chapter. This includes delivering engaging and relevant initiatives to our members and collaborating with First Nations leadership, administrators, and professionals across Ontario.
